The portrait of adolescence between shadows and realities
For this project, the aim was not only to meet the stylistic requirements but also to delve into the emotional connection that Larry Clark establishes with his audience. The exhibition encompasses a specific selection from his extensive body of work, focusing on the unique representation he has achieved of marginalized youth.
The choice of two distinct typographic fonts was based on the need to maintain coherence and readability, while applying the principles of Gestalt facilitated an effective visual organization to guide the viewer through the sensory experience offered by each photograph.
The cover design reflects the intensity and authenticity that characterize Clark's work. A minimalist approach was chosen to capture the essence of his style, using colors that evoke the rawness of the reality he documents.
Concerning the interior pages, the goal was to create a narrative flow that accompanies the progression of the images, contextualizing each photograph within the broader story Clark has captured over the years. The layout of the images was carefully designed to highlight the duality of adolescence: vulnerability and resilience.
The fanzine, serving as a source of inspiration, contributed a DIY (do-it-yourself) atmosphere that reflects the authenticity and urgency of Clark's narrative. This translates into a brochure that goes beyond being a mere visual presentation, becoming a sensory experience that invites the viewer to immerse themselves in the complex and often controversial world of Larry Clark.
